Hey,
right now I'm creating multiple spaces for different departments. The goal is to create multiple knowledge bases. The problem is that all departments need different blueprints for their sites. So the technicians need a different type of manual blueprint like hr.
Besides all the changes inside the page-blueprint I need the overall-structure of the area to stay the same (f.e. the pop up window after pressing the create from template button where people are able to give the article a name / tag or the automatic structure for the knowledge base area).
At the moment I'm only able to alter the existing blueprint once, for one department.
For the other departments I'm forced to create normal global page-blueprints, which don't act like an original knowledge base article.
I'm expecting other people having this problem because departments simply are not alike. Is there a solution or workaround?
Hello Alexander,
Happy to help you!
I'm just curious about one thing, since you said that you were creating Blueprints for each of your departments.
Can you let me know if this means that you were modifying the templates that are included with the Blueprints, or if you were actually developing new Blueprints?
I ask because in order to create new Blueprints, they need to be developed like a new add-on. If you aren't already familiar with this process, you can have a look below:
Those pop-up windows are a feature of Blueprints. They cannot be modified, so if you need to edit a Blueprint on your site, you'll only be able to modify the templates associated with the Blueprint. This is also the reason you cannot modify it more than once; because there's just one template involved for the Blueprint across the entire site.
If you're not interested in developing your own Blueprints, you can also take a look at the Atlassian Marketplace. There are some other add-ons there that can introduce additional Blueprints to your site which you can probably customize (depending on the add-on) to suit your needs.
I hope that helps, but let me know if you have any questions.
Shannon
Hey, thanks for the answer! Right now I'm only modifying the blueprints - sorry for the confusion!
Is there an easy way to copy/duplicate the overall structure of the original knowledge base article instead of developing it - with all the pop-ups etc.? Seems like the Atlassian Marketplace does not provide a blueprint...

Hi Alexander,
Unfortunately, Blueprints can't be copied because they aren't simply a greater version of templates, but closer to individual add-ons or modules that you install on your site.
There are a few feature requests that I found that might help you with this in the future, should they be implemented:
If either of those feature suggestions are of interest to you, please vote on them! You can learn more about feature implementation from our policy on requests for new features.
Regarding what's available now, there are several add-ons on Marketplace which provide additional Blueprint functionality. Have a look here:
I was able to find this list from the Blueprints and User Created Templates documentation.
I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any questions.
Take care,
Shannon
