Did the new Confluence updates get rid of panels?

I used to love using panels to organize information, but now when I try to make panels the only things that pop up are things like info panels. When I copy & pasted an old panel into the new system it transformed into a table. Did the new confluence system get rid of panels in favor of tables?

Yes, the old panel macro has been removed from the new editor:

I guess using tables could be a work around.
