I want to have a document that my team can use to edit definitions of fields we are using in our BI platform. I'd like for the document to update automatically when fields are added or removed at the BI source, and I'd want the definition content that gets updated in Confluence to update to the BI source. The BI platform is Thoughtspot, and I currently can update metadata manually via a YAML file that it exports/imports. Appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Hi Corbin, welcome to the Community!

You're going to want to look at incorporating some Marketplace apps for this. There are a couple things to investigate:

  1. External data apps - these can pull info from an external data source, some can do it via REST API. There's a lot of options here, but it's unusual to find a matching app for your need here than enables a two-way sync.
  2. Glossary apps - as of the time of this post, there are only two. But they display terms pretty well, and both support imports (CSV and Excel). One also supports export functionality. It's possible you could script out some middleware (IFTTT or Zapier potentially) to occasionally "sync" the data with Thoughtspot if you can convert the YAML to a format that one of the apps like.

I don't think there's a solution currently that meets 100% of your use-case, but you can get pretty close with a little coaxing.

Cheers,
Daniel
