Hi all,
Is it possible to create custom templates for Databases in Confluence Cloud or customize the existing ones — similar to Page Templates and Global Page Templates?
You can already choose from templates when you create a new database. But it would be great to have them customiozable.
If not, are there any known plans to support this?
Thanks!
Hey @Silke ,
There's this feature request, which kinda combines a couple of things, including creating custom templates for Databases: CONFCLOUD-80494: Provide more granulated control for Confluence Databases (as stated in the description)
As you've maybe noticed, the development and updates on databases in general are not that often, although AI can, from recently, read database content, which is pretty neat.
All-in-all, I agree that templates would be a good thing to have 🙂
Cheers,
Tobi
Hi @Tomislav Tobijas , thank you for the link, I will follow this feature request. Let's hope they will improve this part of the databases.

Hi @Silke, Atlassian released Database templates more or less a year ago, but they are built-in templates, you can't create your own.
I asked Rovo to make sure this is correct, and it confirmed. However, Rovo suggested a workaround - creating a nicely structured database on a page and treating that page as a “master template page” to duplicate/copy whenever you want a new database. I believe it could work.
Personally, I use an app called Properties because it lets me create custom groups of fields with structured data, ensuring data is entered correctly (no typos, no foreign date formats, etc.) and making data easy to edit and display across different pages. Here is a database-like view I created with Properties (full disclaimer: I am affiliated with the team behind the app).

Hi @Monika Ambrozowicz_Seibert_ , thank you for your answer. I also read about this workaround but I think this would confuse some colleagues. Let's hope that Atlassian will keep on improving the databases.

@Silke I don't see much in the Atlassian documentation about database templates—nothing describing the available templates or how to work with templates. I do see this page that you might find useful: https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/duplicate-a-database-setup/

Custom database templates in Confluence Cloud are possible through the platform’s Databases feature, which allows teams to create structured, table-like content with defined fields such as text, dates, dropdowns, and user assignments. You can set up custom templates so that each new database entry includes pre-filled sections, default values, and a consistent layout, making it easier to manage projects, roadmaps, content calendars, or issue tracking.
