Copy Link & Paste Not Working Properly

Ashley Chandler

For the last several months, I've been able to copy a link to a picture in SharePoint to a Confluence wiki page without seeing the raw URL. For example, if I named my picture General in SharePoint and copied the link to it, it would paste to the Confluence page as General.jpg/png/etc. However, this week, when I'm copying and pasting the link, it's posting the full raw URL, which I don't want. I have a workaround, but it takes longer to accomplish the same task due to additional steps I have to perform. I'm not sure how to tell if this is a Microsoft or Confluence issue. Anyone having this issue and/or know how to resolve it?

I copy the link for the SharePoint picture. In Confluence, I type how I want the link to display (ex. the filename of my SharePoint pic). I then highlight what I've typed, press ctrl + K, press ctrl + V to copy the link in the Search or paste a link box, and press enter (or click Insert).

@Ashley Chandler how did you come up with that.

I like to learn about weird URL use cases as we have an app on the marketplace that deal with links - bulk editing links, bulk find and replace in URLs. Get support requests that force us to pull out our hair at times (why people pay for an app).

I added this to our docs about link formatting, not directly related but you might find it interesting as it is at times 'counterintuitive' (a nice way of saying it). Example tel: format is supported, but not fully supported, I did trial and error.

@Stavros_Rougas_EasyApps Surprisingly, I asked Rovo in Confluence, and it gave me the workaround. I don't work with Confluence often, so I wasn't smart enough to figure it out myself LOL!

@Ashley Chandler what's the workaround?

@Stavros_Rougas_EasyApps Hi. I thought I was replying to you when I posted my workaround above. I'm new to Forums, so I'm still navigating how to use it.
