Hello Atlassian Community,

We are currently working on integrating Salesforce with the Atlassian MCP Server using the endpoint provided in the documentation:
Endpoint: https://mcp.atlassian.com/v1/sse
Reference: Getting Started with Atlassian Remote MCP Server
To facilitate this integration, we have created an app in the Atlassian Developer Console and generated the Client ID and Client Secret following the guidelines for OAuth 2.0 (3LO) apps:
Reference: OAuth 2.0 (3LO) for Atlassian Cloud
However, we are currently unable to establish a successful connection between Salesforce and the Atlassian. We would appreciate guidance on the following:

Is it technically feasible to connect Salesforce directly with the Atlassian MCP Server using the provided endpoint?
Are there any additional configuration steps or prerequisites we might be missing?
If direct integration is not supported, are there any recommended alternatives or middleware solutions to achieve this connectivity?

Any documentation, examples, or best practices you could share would be extremely helpful.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Hey @RAJ Patil ,

I'm no expert here, but I'd just like to point out to relatively new discussion group about MCP Server so you might 'forward' this question there. Official team from Atlassian is usually giving insights related to the questions and discussions.

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi @RAJ Patil

As far as I know, the MCP endpoint is still primarily geared toward Atlassian’s own AI and internal service integrations, so external apps can run into a few limitations.

  • Protocol compatibility: MCP uses a server-sent events (SSE) stream, which Salesforce doesn’t handle natively without a middleware layer.
  • Authentication flow: Atlassian’s OAuth 2.0 (3LO) model is meant for Atlassian Cloud apps - external clients often need additional scopes or review.
  • Data mapping: Even if the connection works, aligning Salesforce objects with Atlassian entities typically requires transformation logic.
  • Error handling: Direct connections miss retries and sync checkpoints, which can affect reliability.

In your case, you may want to explore the Atlassian listing of Atlassian Silver Solution Partner, OpsHub Integration Manager (OIM)  a no-code, plugin-free platform for bi-directional sync between Salesforce and Jira. Since the MCP Server currently allows only a limited set of external integrations, OIM can support you with secure, out-of-the-box connectivity- preserving attachments, comments, and traceability without custom scripts or downtime.

Hope it helps!
