Hello all,
I've just started work at a new company and am looking into adopting Confluence for our design and dev documentation for our digital products.
We are currently with an external Dev contractor, who have their own Jira (self-hosted I think).
Them having their Jira is fine, however we would prefer to keep documentation on our side, which is why using their existing Confluence instance is not desired.
The question is, would it be possible to have our own Confluence instance (presumably cloud based) play integrate well (or at all) with our dev contractor's Jira?
What issues would I anticipate to face in such a set up?
Apologies for the broad question, but can't seem to find this info anywhere.
Thanks in advance,
Achilles
Hello Achilles,
Welcome to Atlassian Community. It's nice to meet you.
It's certainly possible to link a Confluence Cloud site to a Jira Server instance. There are a few requirements for you to be able to connect to their their site, one of which is that you must be an administrator on their Jira site. For the full list of requirements:
Requirements for linking to server products
To set up application links between cloud and server products, you must have administrator permissions on both the cloud and server products. You should also make sure you meet the following requirements:
The product must be accessible via the ports specified in the Compare Atlassian cloud vs server page.
Check that the Base URL for the server product is set correctly.
If you want to use SSL, you need to use a valid certificate (not a self-signed certificate).
Your server needs to be reachable by the Atlassian cloud IP range. See Atlassian cloud IP ranges and domains for details.
The URL for the product must fulfill the RFC 1738 URL standards.
I hope that's clear, but let me know if you have any questions about that.
Take care,
Shannon
