Conflunce: MS Office "The address wasn’t understood"

In confluence, for an Excel doc, [ Edit in Office ]  works once, then you get "The address wasn’t understood"

It doesn't matter what flavor Excel doc it is (xls or xlsx, etc).

If you delete the XLS extension from the WebDAV plug-in [ Options ], then you can [ Edit in Office ] again, just once.

Is there a real fix for this?

This version of Firefox used to work for me. I think the WebDAV plug-in auto-updated and got broken, but I cannot tell for sure.

The latest version of Firefox (52) has a completely different problem with the WebDAV plug-in that is completely broken, so that's why I use this older version of Firefox.

Old environment required - hard to reproduce this issue now. In addition there is Companion App used by default instead old Edit in Office functionality. Closing.
