Confluence links with a "target" attribute?

I use Confluence for technical documentation.  This documentation often links to pages that are not Confluence pages.

I am looking for a way to have a Confluence link that allows me to specify that a link to a page, not managed by Confluence, should open in a new tab or window.  The aim is to reduce the need for the person reading the Confluence page to have to keep using their browser forward and back buttons.

@Dave Poole I was fairly certain that there was an article or something in the last year that said that links to external pages would automatically open in a new tab, but I can't find it for the life of me. (not sure if it's time to question my memory or sanity😀)

Hi @Dave Poole ,

Open page in edit mode and you can see link icon. Add it to the page, and select any random page in the pop-up. Once the link is added, click on the link macro in the page and edit it. You can update with any URL. Once the page is saved, when user clicks on the link, the URL will be opened in new tab.
