Confluence User Search Error

Hi,

Context:

  • Confluence Data Center 7.19
  • User Directory and Group Membership handled via Jira
  • Jira pulls users from my active directory
  • jira-users and confluence-users assigned automatically on first login
  • confluence-users is a group with licensed access
  • Recently implemented SAML SSO

The problem is that when space owners try to add users to their space, the user they are searching for does not show

It happens randomly, not for everyone, but frequently enough to be an issue

The users I am trying to add are members of licensed groups

Confluence has synced with the Jira User Directory and they can be searched for in the user search macro

Re-indexing is unlikely to be the issue as it's happened many times over the course of a few weeks- while the service indexes nightly.

Has anyone come across this issue before/know how to resolve?

Thanks

Hi @aho

It is common that you can not add a user to a group if they have never logged into Confluence before.  I'm not sure if I have seen it by only adding them to a space, but I wouldn't be surprised if adding a user to a space is really just adding them to a group under the hood.
