Hey Lutz, welcome to the Community!
Thanks for posting a bit from your log file. Although I can see that the plugin subsystem isn't starting up correctly, the log doesn't quite go back far enough to diagnose a specific cause. Would you be able to post more of the log file, or the file in its entirety?
If you're having trouble with the length of the file, you could also post it to a third-party paste site such as pastebin and link to the paste here.
Thanks,
Daniel | Atlassian Team
Hi Daniel,
thanks for your advice! I tried it this morning again with the same error.
Here is the full log file.
Thanks,
Lutz

I still havent found a solution but would be also grateful about any ideas how to fix the problem

Looking through the log file, I see some signs of potential permission issues. You mentioned starting it again, but we see this line:
2020-04-07 07:37:39,951 WARN [Catalina-utility-1] [com.atlassian.config.ApplicationConfig] setApplicationHome Application home does not exist. Creating directory: /var/atlassian/application-data/confluence/shared-home
indicating that Confluence thinks it needs to create a home directory. If it was created previously and Confluence still had permissions to read/write it, Confluence would not be creating the directory.
You can use these commands to make sure the home directory has the correct permissions (using the path values from your log file) - by default the installer makes a user on your system called confluence but if you're launching the application as some other user, swap that out in the first command:
chown -R confluence /var/atlassian/application-data/confluence
chmod -R u=rwx,go-rwx /var/atlassian/application-data/confluence
After that try restarting the Confluence application and going through the web-based setup wizard again.
