Confluence Server connected originally but now cannot.

Hey so I'm not a techy person but was somehow able to create a database in postgresql and figure out how to get both Confluence and JIRA server in stalled as a server. I messed around with both of them for a while. When I tried again today I was able to get into my JIRA account fine but couldn't access the confluence and got the below error. I have read a bunch of the threads on this already. Have tried turning my firewalls off completely and couldn't get in. created new rules on the 8090 port for my firewalls and couldn't get in. I checked the proxy setting and I'm not sure those apply (again I'm not techy so I could be wrong). But I can just not figure out how to access my confluence that I was able to yesterday after buying it. Help please :)

As I understand, a previously working Confluence instance is now not accessible.

This behavior can indicate a number of things. But major part of them can only be uncovered by looking at the instance logs.

However, there are a few things we can try before going into the logs. Here we go:

  1. Try accessing Confluence with another Browser
  2. Try clearing Chrome’s cache
  3. Try restarting Confluence with a user that has the adequate level of permissions

There are some differences when starting a Confluence Server in both Linux and Windows platforms. You can check more about those details here:

Main thing to keep in mind is that the user running Confluence must have enough permissions to read, write and execute within Confluence folders.

In case you need to look into the logs, here is our documentation on how to work with them:

You will be able to look into Confluence logs if you go into their location directly and open the files with a plain text editor such as Notepad, Notepad++, Sublime text, etc. Your logs should be located in a location that looks like this:

<confluence-home>/logs/atlassian-confluence.log

Having all this in mind, please, allow me to ask a few questions:

  1. Have you restarted your host machine before this behavior started?
  2. How did you install Confluence?
  3. What is the Operational System that you are using to host Confluence?
  4. Are Jira and Confluence running on the same server?
  5. What is the Java version currently running on your system?
