Confluence Data Center Patch/Upgrade

Ashly Montaño September 8, 2023

hi team! ☺️

I request your kind support with the following question.

We currently manage Confluence in a data center, we want to migrate Confluence to the cloud, but to do so we must first update our data center from 5.3 to 5.10 to be successful in the migration.

But I realized that to update the data center, it requires ( DOCUMENT TO UPDATE CONFLUENCE TO 5.10 ) on page 878:

- Tomcat 8.0.x
-Oracle JRE/JDK 1.8

But on our server we have:
-Tomcat 7.0.52
-Java 1.7.0

We want to know if any of you have made a patch with these features, or if you know if there is any problem with Tomcat or Java. Also ask them if they know how long an update or patch takes on a confluence from 5.3 to 5.10?

Hello @Ashly Montaño

You guys are way behind the curve on releases ;-). And I think you mean server version and not data center. BTW, we are also way behind but are on 6.13.x

Yes you will have to upgrade both Tomcat and Java. My suggestion would be to bring up a new server with the correct versions (clean install of 5.10), then take a backup off the production server and move it over the new server.

It should take one or two days to do the new install, and fix problems. Be advised that you may run into issues if you need to upgrade any third-party plugins as I assume you are off maintenance.

Good luck.
