I am going to be standing up Confluence DC on 4 nodes and i am wondering if i need to start the install using the Linux Archive File or can i use the confluence installer?

You can go with the installer itself , make sure all the nodes are having the same build installed.

nice ... and do i need to specify Clustered as the deployment type during this as well ?
Yes and make sure you have a cluster license for the setup.
