Change Confluence attachment directory

We are running Confluence Server 7.6 and are running out of space on the default location where attachments are stored. We would like to now re-point Confluence to our storage server for attachments, however everything I have read thus far make this seem like a re-installation is necessary. One thought was to use a symbolic link, but that does not seem possible based on the below URL:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf76/confluence-home-and-other-important-directories-1018769882.html

What is the correct way to do this?

UPDATE:
Okay I guess in my haste I neglected to carefully read the above link. It appears that one can simply change the 'attachments.dir' property in the 'confluence.cfg.xml' file to repoint this elsewhere - sound right?
