Cannot open Word document when using Edge - Word ran into a problem

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
At work, I cannot open Word document when using Edge - I get a "Sorry, Word ran into a problem while opening this document in a browser." (see attachment). I am only able to download it (or use another browser).
We are using Confluence and Atlassian companion, but it's no longer working with Edge since some time.
Versions: Confluence 7.4.8, Atlassian Companion is Version 1.2.2, Microsoft EdgeVersion 97.0.1072.62
