Can you place an anchor within a specific tab?

I am trying to set an anchor within a specific tab on a page with many tabs. I put the anchor inside that nested tab (say it's tab #3) and then I put the link on a different page altogether. When I click the link, it takes me to the correct page with all of the tabs, but it shows tab #1. Is there any way to get the correct tab to select and scroll to the spot where the anchor has been placed?
