Can you create a template with a copy of a document that can be edited without overwriting the orig?

Hi All,

I am trying to create a template that allows users to create a page that has a *copy* of a word doc on it that they can then edit and save. However, I cannot figure out a way to create an actual copy of the document rather than just refering to the original. The problem is, when users update the document, the original changes as well. Instead, I want to create a copy of the document for them to edit and save without messing with the original. 

Any suggestions?
