Can you change Heading levels in the Table of Contents?

Usually, the Heading levels match the way they appear in the Table of Contents: Heading 1 is at the left margin, Heading 2 indented once, and so on.

Is there a way to break this pattern? Can I make a specific Heading 1 appear indented once, and the following Heading 2 indent twice?

Hi Shawn,

In the Table of Contents Macro, you have the ability to include the indent parameter which will allow you to increase the level of indent:

Sets the indent for a list according to CSS quantities. Entering 10px will successively indent heading groups by 10px. For example, level 1 headings will be indented 10px and level 2 headings will be indented an additional 10px.

Go ahead and give that a try and let us know if that helps you do what you need or if you have any trouble or questions.

This is interesting, but it's not what I'm looking for, because it affects all the entries. Let me explain better than before.

Right now my ToC looks like this:

• Topic A (Heading 1)
  • SubTopic A1 (Heading 2)
• Topic B (Heading 1)
  • SubTopic B1 (Heading 2)
  • SubTopic B2 (Heading 2)
• Topic C (Heading 1)
  • SubTopic C1 (Heading 2)

I'd like to change it to look like this:

• Topic A (Heading 1)
  • SubTopic A1 (Heading 2)
• Topic B (Heading 1)
  • SubTopic B1 (Heading 2)
  • SubTopic B2 (Heading 2)
  • Topic C (Heading 1)
    • SubTopic C1 (Heading 2)

Note that, in the body of the document, Topic C and SubTopic C1 are still using Heading 1 and 2, respectively.

Right now my workaround is to change the headings in the body, so that the Topic C heading is actually Heading 2, but LOOKS like Heading 1.
