Can we have one space for one of our clients, knowing they'll have multiple projects in that space?

Paul Goins February 26, 2018

Hi!

We want one space for one of our clients, knowing they'll have multiple projects in that space. For each project we want a unique decision log and a unique meeting notes archive.

Can this be done? Please let us know–we're deciding if Confluence is right for us as agency.

Thanks!

Paul

Yes, it can be done, you would have to manually create those unique pages, since Confluence does not allow you to create 2 pages with the same name in a space.

Hi Mikael,

I'm not clear on how to create a unique unique "Project 1 meetings-index page" (with "Project 1 meeting note(s)" nested beneath it...and do that again for Project 2 meetings-index page" (with "Project 2 meeting note(s)" nested beneath it.

Once I get this down...I'll want to create Project 1 Decision Log page with Product 1 decisions nested underneath it, as well as Project 2 Decision Log page with Product 2 decisions nested beneath it.

Can you help? Do I need to use Macros or something?

Thank you. If I can get this resolved, I could use Confluence.

Paul

You need to use labels and templates and Create from template macro on the index pages. Each unique index page would have a template that creates the sub page, with the label the index page is looking for.

Have a look at Blueprints and User Created Templates and Create a Blueprint-Style Report

Yikes, this is not intuitive. I can create a unique index pages including a button that lets team create a meeting note–and it even gets auto nested under that unique index page. Cool.

...But the unique index page is still showing reference links to meeting notes that should only be viewable on other index pages with a specific project-name label.

I'm sure what I want to accomplish is doable–but I'm skeptical of the time this is taking now and what the maintenance will be moving forward. Perhaps Confluence is best having multiple spaces all with the same client name so this is frankly easier and faster. Is there a blog post on this?

Thanks much for your help.

Check to make sure that the content report table on your index page is looking for the right label, it sounds like it includes more labels than you want it to.

Paul Goins February 27, 2018

Hi,

My content report table is not listening to the Labels correctly. My all meetings custom report table on my Project A Meetings Index page is displaying pages, decisions and meeting notes because those things have "Project A" label.

I need ability to du a query in my custom report table on my Project A index page to display only for matches with both labels "Project A" AND "meetings". Otherwise my Meeting index page reports are getting polluted with non-meeting items.

Do you know how to fix this?

Also, I wonder if there is a live or private example template I could access.

Thanks,

Paul

If you use a label like project-a-meeting-notes it should solve your issue. If your index page are looking for multiple labels, like project-a, meeting-notes, it will show all pages with those labels.

Ok, I got to my answer. Thanks Mikael.
