Can't move the task even though I'm the organization admin

Hello. I’m currently experiencing an issue on my project board where I’m unable to move any task.

Despite being listed as an organization admin for this project, I’m also unable to create new tasks, as it appears I only have view access to the project.
I’ve checked my permissions and tried refreshing and re-logging into the platform, but the issue persists. I’m unsure of the root cause and would appreciate any guidance or support to help resolve this.

Hi @Fiana Marsha Marentek ,

Are we here talking about Confluence tasks or Jira items?
I'm asking as this question landed in the Confluence product/app group. 👀

We would need some additional info on whether you have an actual license for Jira or just Org admin rights. Note that being an Org admin doesn't mean that you have a license (although in most cases these users do).

For example, you can navigate to https://admin.atlassian.com/ > Directory > Users > find yourself and see what product access you've got.

Next level here would be project permissions. See if you can navigate to the project and check how the permission scheme is configured for that project.
Again, even with Jira admin rights, in some cases you would need yourself as project admin/user (see docs for project roles) > so you would have to add yourself to a specific project role to be able to assign items, transition statuses...

The lowest permission would be security level, which can restrict viewing items (not related to editing), but if you can already see the item and just are not able to move it, then I'd recommend checking project permissions.

One additional thing you could check is workflow properties as with those, you can restrict specific actions on item(s) when they are in a designated status.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tobi
