We currently use a calendar I created in Excel for our publish and release schedule. I make updates when needed and distribute to the team. We want to be able to use Confluence to provide a centralized calendar so the team could edit and the calendar would always be up-to-date and visible across the team. Is it possible to upload the existing calendar into Confluence so we have a starting point, or does the information from the existing calendar need to be manually entered into a Confluence calendar?
We currently access through a Data Center, but will soon be moving to Cloud.
Hi @Kathy Ellis
Trust you are well.
The question is "How often you update your release schedule?" If not often, you can "draw" it in any tool that will allow you exports to ICS and import to Confluence. But this won't be dynamic. If you want to get all the updates (as opposed to re-upload every time) you need to look for a tool that will give you a permanent URL link as opposed to ICS export.
Alternative suggestion would be to stay within Jira ecosystem. If you are using FixVersion (Releases) in Jira as well as Start/Release dates there are number of Apps that can provide you with Release Calendar Gadgets. While you are on DC you can import Partner Apps Gadgets into Confluence. In Cloud, this is not possible. But you can still create Jira Dashboard for your stakeholders and link from confluence.
We are developing Release Management Apps for Jira and can help in 2 ways:
Hope it helps.
Kind regards,
Yuri.
@Kathy Ellis You will need to convert your Excel to ICS as this is the format that Confluence calendar can consume. Take a look at this feature request and the information provided on the issue. https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-50205
