Can Confluence Secure Technical Documentation?

Melissa Massy February 12, 2018

One of our requirements for adopting a new technical documentation tool is single-sign on. By this we mean the user would sign-on once to our application and would be able to access the help system without signing in again. Also, the help would only be accessible from within the application, it would not be public at all (not accessible via URL outside the app at all). Is this something that Confluence can support?

Well SSO is very doable. Maybe there is a way to block access to the URL from any access that is not passed via the app with a web server, For example, using a proxy that requires a log in, passed via the app.

If the service desk application is Jira Service Desk, Confluence can be used for the technical documentation. The knowledge base space would be accessible via URL but only for users with permission, not the public. Here are more details: Serving customers with a knowledge base

That solution sounds very effective, but unfortunately the application is not a Jira service desk.

I am afraid not, Identity Manager is enhanced authentication for Atlassian Cloud products.

No.  It was a Server product originally.  Atlassian set up a Cloud provision arm for it a few years ago, so it's now both.

It says on the Web site product data that Identity Manager can be used with Confluence....
