As a Confluence Product Administrator, does anyone know if there's a way to control what type of space access permissions can be made available for Confluence space admins?
I feel Confluence Product Administrators should have the ability to define and restrict which space access permissions are available for selection by individual Confluence Space Administrators.
Examples:
Space Admin Permission
In our organization, space administrators often manually assign 'Space Admin' rights to individual users. This practice can lead to an uncontrolled increase in admin users and lacks a robust audit trail. To mitigate this, I’ve centralized admin control by assigning myself as the sole space admin across hundreds of spaces. Users must now request access through SailPoint and Active Directory, ensuring proper governance and traceability.
Space Export Permissions
While the 'Export Space' feature is valuable, it introduces potential data security risks—especially in environments with a mix of employees, contractors, and clients. As both a Confluence Product Administrator and Atlassian Site Admin, I am responsible for safeguarding organizational and client data. Limiting export capabilities to specific roles or groups would significantly reduce the risk of data leakage.
