Hi Team,
We have confluence 6.12.1 on one of our development server. we are migrating the confluence to production server. Yesterday i have downloaded the latest confluence server from yoru site and installed it on production server. I have performed backup of existing confluence server (1.2GB) and got the xml.zip file, the same has been uploaded to new production server. While restoring it stuck at 3% and did not complete the restoration process. Now when i access the new confluence setup it shows "System Error". I tried restarting confluence but it is of now help. I need the following,
1. How do Irecover the new setup.
2. is there any better way to restore the xml file directly through shell.
Note: my current development setup is on windows and the new setup is on RHEL linux.
Regards,
Sriparna
Hello there!
Well, this behaviour could have been caused by a few issues. So, we can start by retrying the process as a whole. So lets begin:
- Restore your new installation to a point prior to the restore attempt
- For that you could re-install the application or restore previously backed up folders and database.
- The folders that should be restored are <confluence-home> and <confluence-install>
- Upload the .XML file to your destination server
- Place it under <confluence-home>/restore
- Start Confluence
- Go into Cog Icon > General Configuration > Backup & Restore
- Scroll down to Restore a backup from the Confluence Home Directory.
- Select the file you just uploaded to the /restore folder
- Wait for the process to finish
Notes
Still, we do not have much information about what is actually happening to your instance. You may have a better idea of the current situation if you look into the logs under <confluence-home>/logs and check what happens the latest System start.
A system start log line should look like this:
contextInitialized Starting Confluence 6.X.x
Looking forward to your reply!
