Hey Community,

Here's the use case I'm trying to figure out:

  • We have a template set up to create Initiative documents in Confluence
  • Jira issues will be linked to the Confluence page
  • Looking to create a table on the Confluence page showing some information for the linked Jira items that is updated automatically as new Jira items are linked to the Confluence page.

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hello Tyler,

You’re requirements you explained point mainly to creating a custom user macro to display issue details or using a marketplace add-on which will do something similar. The path with the least development will be the marketplace add-on, so we’ll start there.

I have included a marketplace preset search, Atlassian Marketplace | Confluence Apps. Upon reviewing the results, there are a few add-ons which may help to achieve some of your requirements. Though you may still have to manually insert the issue ID into the add-on to have the information from Jira displayed.

If the marketplace does not suit your requirements, then your left with developing a user macro. More about the user macro may found at Writing User Macros. With using a user macro, you may also integrate with the Confluence and Jira Java APIs to access and display the data you need.

While we don’t have an exact solution for you, the two items listed above should provide some guidance on what your available options are.

Also, thank you for being a Community Champion! We appreciate all of the efforts you put forth into the Community!

Stephen Sifers
