We received a request to change the user name and have already tried to edit the profiles. This worked without any problems for former employees.
However, for all other employees, we received the following error message: ‘The name is managed by an administrator.’
We therefore contacted the IT team and received the following response: ‘The application team has checked this and informed us that Transcom does not manage wiki profiles.’ We do not work with this tool and do not have access to it.
Please inform the client of this." Unfortunately, we do not know who the responsible administrator is, which is why we were unable to change the names.
Can someone please find who the admin is?
Are you an organisation admin on this site/organization?
If so, you best check wether the domain has been verified and a identity provider connection has been made.
IT might not work with the tool nor have access to it, if the name is managed by a SCIM link through Atlassian Guard provisioning they are managing it through the identity provider sync.
If so, they will either need to change it at the source or you'll need to break the link between the organisation and the idp
Hi @heba.ibrahim ,
These messages usually mean that the user's profile details, such as their name, are controlled centrally by your org's Atlassian Cloud administrators.
So, only site admins or organization admins can change managed user details.
I mean, generally, you need to ask internally who manages Atlassian Cloud apps or who set up your Jira/Confluence sites. I guess your IT or helpdesk team should know that.
This article might also help with the steps on how to change (managed) users' details: How user management works in Atlassian Cloud
If you really cannot find who's org admin, but you do know who is app admin (e.g., Confluence admin), these users can raise requests in official Atlassian Support, and they will be able to check who the main admin is in your organization.
Cheers,
Tobi
