Are Confluence templates and automation rule no longer linked to a space?

I had a Confluence automation rule that drafts release notes based on a template I created. I wanted to recreate this for another space.

But when I went looking for my previously created template to copy it, it was gone (even though it is still referenced in the automation rule and worked fine when it was last scheduled to run on July 1st).

I could not navigate to automation rules from a space, only from confluence settings. I created a new template. but when I try to reference it in an automation rule it does not show in the list.

Are Confluence templates and automation rule no longer linked to a space?  How can I reference my newly created template in a rule?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi @Jennifer Choban - HeroCoders , thank you for your question.

Templates are either specific to a Space or Global (available in all Spaces).

Automation rules can be configured to apply to:

  • a single Space
  • multiple Spaces
  • all Spaces

This is defined by their Scope under 'Rule Details'.

Using actions such as 'Publish new page' will allow you to select Templates from other Spaces by using the 'Template space' and 'Template' fields:

PS: you need access to the Space you want to pull templates from.

For this specific case, a few possible options are:

  1. use the same rule by changing it's Scope to Multiple Spaces and adding all Spaces where you want it to run, or
  2. use the 'Copy' option from the rule's ellipsis button (3 dots) and change the Scope so it runs on another Space

Hope this helps!  =]
