Another showstopper: no cut and paste for table lines

I just found another terrible shortcoming in that desastrous new editor.

It is not possible to cut and paste a table line!

And Rovo's answers are garbage.

Horrors!

If you want to move the row to a different place in the table, you can click the row selector and:

  • drag the row to another place in the table (you can even drag it out of the table to create a new table with that row)
  • use the move row up and move row down commands in the row menu

You can also copy, paste, and then delete.

Hi @Robert E_ Schneider you posted this as a Question. Do you have an actual question?

Limitations in Confluence Cloud:

  • There is no drag-and-drop for table rows (unlike Excel).

  • Cut–paste behavior can be inconsistent between browsers.

  • Nested tables or merged cells make moving rows harder.

  • Using copy + delete is safer than cut in long tables.

Method 1: Cut & paste using the keyboard/context menu

  1. Click inside the row you want to move.

  2. Select the entire row:

    • Click and drag across all cells in the row, or

    • Click in the first cell, then Shift + click in the last cell.

  3. Cut the row:

    • Windows: Ctrl + X

    • Mac: Cmd + X

  4. Click into the target row/location in the same or another table.

  5. Paste:

    • Windows: Ctrl + V

    • Mac: Cmd + V

Method 2: Copy/paste, then delete

This avoids formatting issues.

  1. Select the entire row (as above).

  2. Copy (Ctrl/Cmd + C).

  3. Paste it into the destination.

  4. Delete the original row using the table controls.

Method 3: Insert ros + paste cells

  1. Insert a new empty row where you want the content.

  2. Select all cells in the source row and copy.

  3. Select the same number of cells in the target row.

  4. Paste.

This preserves column alignment and formatting.

Indeed, this explains how to cut/paste table lines. Thank you!

Then, why does that Rovo thing tell me a completely diferent story about a menu appearing in the beginning of the line and a "cut" button in that menu.

Why is this stuff so inconsistent? Sometimes you use Window-keyboard shortcuts, at other times there are menu items.

That's not really straightforward.
