After copy/paste rows in table, click anywhere re-highlights pasted text

Doug Fowler June 7, 2020

This is on a MacBookPro.  After I copy/paste multiple rows from one table to another in my document, the new rows stay highlighted when I try to click to another part of the table.

Here's what I do:

  • using the mouse (touchpad, actually), select several rows
  • click "Copy table row" in the table toolbar
  • move to the row where I want to paste the rows
  • click "Paste table row" in the table toolbar

The rows are pasted into the table correctly, but if I try to click somewhere else in the table, the newly pasted cells are highlighted again (as if I had selected them with the mouse), and I don't have a flashing vertical bar showing which cell I'm in.  If I use the arrow keys to move somewhere else, it works as expected... I can add/edit text in other cells.  But when the newly pasted cells are highlighted, if I try to type, whatever I type replaces those pasted cells.  If I then press Cmd-z to undo that change, then everything is fine.  The rows I copy/pasted are restored, and I can click anywhere I want in the table (or elsewhere in the document) and it works as expected.
