With the old editor, I could add a new page instantly with this way:
1. Enter [ character
2. Write the new page title X
3. Enter ] character
4. Click on X which opens a new page X
5. Fill the contents in X and click Publish
With the new editor, I cannot do that, and this is what I do which is less convenient.
1. Open a page B that is same to the current editing page
2. Click "Create" button in B
3. Write the new page title X and fill the contents
4. Click Publish
5. Go to the current editing page and press Ctrl-K and enter the page title X and add the URL link
What is the best practice way of adding a new page instantly on the current editing page?
Yes, but it's a pain in the neck, and Atlassian really ought to go back to the plain [] way of doing it.
Let's say you want to link to a page called "Charlie got their hard brackets wrong". It doesn't matter if it exists or not, like with the old [] method. Type in:
[Charlie got their hard brackets wrong]()
and move on - Confluence will replace your typing with the link you want.
Did you type it, or copy and paste?
I've had it fail when pasting it in. Just typing
[bob]()
followed by a space, line feed, enter or a full-stop works fine for me.
