The help files suggest 2 methods to add an anchor in a page, but neither of them seem to work!

Will these help pages get updated?

Hello Tony!

Thanks for reaching out about adding an anchor to a Confluence page. From the page your linked and your notes it sounds like you’re using the new editor experience in which the documentation you linked is referencing the legacy editor. Within the new editor, we no longer have anchors in the traditional means, but we now have linkable headings. Further information on this may be found at Confluence Editing Improvements | Linkable headings.

The linked documentation refers to the following steps;

Over the next couple of weeks, we're rolling out the ability to copy the link to a heading so that you can connect your users to the most important sections of a page.

To get the heading link

  1. Hover over the section title when viewing the page.
  2. Click the link icon to copy the heading.
  3. Share the link, or insert a link to it when editing a page.

I hope this information proves helpful and you’re able to use the new linkable headers moving forward.

Regards,
Stephen Sifers
