Is the beta still accepting applications? Or should admins not in the beta simply prepare for when Role based access roles out to everyone?

I don't think you need to apply. All my sites could be opted in in the Confluence settings. I've got a couple sandboxes where it was activated straight away and I had some smaller sites changed over to Role based access.

The only issue I am seeing is that some permissions require others. e.g. if you click "manage access to space", the role also can delete content, create content etc.

So while permissions are way more granular, Confluence won't let you configure all possible combinations. Probably makes sense - otherwise permission debugging would be a nightmare i guess.

+1 to what @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ shared - As a Confluence admin, you can enable the roles feature for your site on your own. Go to Confluence administration (the gear icon) > Configuration > New features where you will see the option to opt-in to the Roles beta.
