Keeping your team aligned and informed about your progress improving software health can be challenging. Many organizations struggle with ensuring that all team members are aware of the current status of their software health, especially when it comes to understanding which components are not meeting expectations. This lack of visibility can lead to missed opportunities for improvement.
Our new feature, scheduled scorecard summaries via Slack, addresses this issue by providing regular updates directly within the communication platform that teams already use.
By integrating Compass with Slack, teams can receive scheduled summaries that highlight components with non-passing scorecards and offer actionable tips for improvement. This integration not only keeps everyone informed but also empowers teams to take immediate action to address issues, enhancing team engagement and performance.
First, install and connect the Slack apps (one for Slack, one for Compass):
Install the Atlassian Compass app from the Slack app marketplace (requires Slack Workspace admin role) and follow the OAuth flow
Install the Slack app in Compass (requires Compass Product admin role)
Navigate to Apps
Find Slack in the list
Click Install
Connect the two
After the Slack app in Compass has finished installing, click Configure
On the Configure screen, click Connect to Slack and follow the OAuth flow
Once complete, you should see a message like “Your Slack workspace, acme-org is successfully connected to Compass.”
Once the apps are installed and configured, you can create a subscription for your team:
Add the Atlassian Compass app to your team’s Slack channel by @-mentioning @Atlassian Compass and clicking Add Them
Initiate the subscription flow with the /compass scorecardsummary slash-command
Select Schedule a summary
In the modal that pops up, enter the name of your Atlassian team (that owns Compass components) and select a schedule interval (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly)
Click Submit.
Now your team will receive team-scoped summary messages on your chosen interval. Here’s an example:
The message highlights components with the most non-passing scorecards and includes tips for how to get them passing. You can click directly into those scorecards from the Slack message, where you can use the new criteria connections UI to get your scorecards set up (if applicable).
At the end of the message, there’s a link to the new team scorecard overview, which shows how all your scorecards are doing across components.
We hope this new feature helps you and your teams stay on top of your scorecard scores by checking them on a regular basis. Let us know what you think!
