pipelines -- what do they add to a system that was perfect for my use case?

I was using bitbucket as a repository. It was perfect as is in that function.

Now I have this concept of pipelines layered on top of that.

The discussion of pipelines ought to start with what they are and what problem they're solving. Instead I get a discussion of the value of continuous delivery principles. I've got to go through a full tutorial without any promise of getting that question answered?

Is there a clear cut description of pipelines, what they do for me, if I have to use them? I just wanted to add a computer's publish ssh key to access my stuff ... it used to be simple and quick.

If someone WANTS this feature, perhaps they can enable for themselves?

I didn't need this when I checked something in at work yesterday. Why do I need it now?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

My understanding after reading your message is that you were trying to add a SSH key to your account, but instead you were prompted to use Pipelines, is this correct? I've tried replicating this on my personal Bitbucket account, but I was just asked to follow the usual steps to add the SSH Key, as explained here

If you're experiencing something different, can you please describe what steps were you following and send a screenshot?

My understanding is also that you were not purposefully looking for Pipelines, so I won't proceed to explain them. If, however, you're interested to know more, please feel free to ask us any questions :) You can also learn more about them here and here.

Best regards,

Ana
