how to exclude certain file extension from search?

When searching for code in repositories can I exclude certain file extension?

I've tried these to exclude *sql but it doesn't work:

 

textToFind project:myProj NOT ext:sql

textToFind project:myProj AND NOT ext:sql

textToFind project:myProj -ext:sql
