fatal error when trying to do git pull or push

I do the following:

git clone my-repository.git

cd my-repository

checkout release

git pull 

and get:

```fatal: '/opt/micros/data/fsx/vp1835/data/d-728/r-66062728' does not appear to be a git repository```


same with git push
