I have changed phones and need to swap the authentication app over to the new device.
Two step verification is forced on our accounts so in order to swap phones I need to remove the requirement for 2 step verification make the change on my account and then re-enable the requirement.
Can anyone tell me if this will cause everyone to get an email telling them that 2 step verification is being enabled, blah blah blah?
Hi Jerry! Bitbucket doesn't have a centralized user management system like Jira does, so nobody manages your account apart from yourself. Hence, nobody else will receive a notification once you disable the 2 Step verification.
Hope that helps!
Ana
Thanks Ana,
Ok, my mistake, I thought this (see attached screen) was the two step for bitbucket, but you're right of course.
As you can see here the disable section is greyed out so I assume this is the Jira account info then?

Hi Jerry! That looks like id.atlassian.com, and that section is referring to the two-step verification for your Jira account. In that case you'll need to contact your administrator so he can disable it for you and you can switch phones.
Regarding two-step verification for Bitbucket, you can do that yourself by following the steps at Secure your account.
Let us know if you have any questions!

How could admin change or see two-steps verification?
Thanks,

As my understanding, bitbucket account manage by yourself, so noone can change or see your 2FA.

Hi Jerry,
Could you confirm which product this is related to so I can move it to the appropriate collection and so we can give you accurate information?

Shannon

Sorry Shannon,
It's for bitbucket in the first case but we also use Jira.
Thanks - Jerry

Thank you for confirming, Jerry.
I put your question in the Bitbucket collection but also tagged it with Jira so someone who knows the answer to that for sure will be able to follow up with you.

Shannon
