Hi.

I have a git repo that is hosted on a non public server. We don't have an issue tracker. So I created a bitbucket repo and set it to private, and turned on the issue tracker. Can I link the two so that I get most of the functionality of affecting issues with keywords within commit messages to that git repo?

Reworded: how to get commits that are going to a non public git repo to be able to modify bitbucket issues?

It might be easiest to do it client side, Tortoise Git is the client we use.

I'm afraid I don't fully understand your message. When you said ' is hosted on a non public server' do you mean Bitbucket Server? And when you said 'I created a bitbucket repo and set it to private', are you referring to Bitbucket Cloud?

So would you like to link Bitbucket Server and Cloud together so you can host your repo in the server and use the issue tracker in the Cloud. If that's your case, it won't possible.

If you're using Bitbucket Cloud, you'll be able to create an issue tracker for your repo, even if this repo is private. You can learn more at Issue trackers.

If you're using Bitbucket Server, you can link it to Jira as explained at Linking Bitbucket Server with Jira. At the moment, there are no plans to embed standalone issue tracking in Bitbucket Server. Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be happy to help :)

Kind regards,

Ana
