I use this "https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/create-your-workspace/" to create workspaces, everything is OK before, but after 30 workspaces created I cannot create workspace, now.

Screen Shot 2025-12-30 at 19.07.45.png

I also tried wait about 12 hours and try to create it again, and tried to create another orignzation and create workspace in it, the errors are the same.

I also tried in a clean installed ubuntu virtual machine to avoid webbrowser cache/cookie problem, but the errors are the same.

The bitbucket account is a free one.

I'll be appreicated your helps, thanks!

Hey @mike zhang

Welcome to the community.

I am curious to understand why you need to create multiple workspaces. Could you provide me with some insight and your goals so I can suggest a better workaround?

Hi,

Thanks for your response!

I just have a lot of repositories needed to backup to bitbucket. The total size is more than 30GB. One workspace only allow 1GB for free account, and keep the workspace active. This is the reason for creating more workspaces.

And I saw "https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Trello-questions/How-many-workspaces-can-we-have-in-the-free-version/qaq-p/1912897", which displayed "unlimited number of workspaces for free", so I think I can create more workspaces to do my task.

Have a greate day,

Mike

Hey @mike zhang

Thanks a lot for the clarification and for sharing the link!

The article you found refers to Trello workspaces, which follow a different set of limits and pricing than Bitbucket. For Bitbucket Cloud specifically, free accounts are limited by:

  • Total storage per workspace (not per repository), and
  • Plan type for that workspace.

Because of this, creating additional Bitbucket workspaces isn’t intended as a way to extend storage beyond the free plan limits, and each workspace will still be subject to its own storage and plan constraints.

If you need to back up more than 30 GB of repositories, consider upgrading the Bitbucket plan for one workspace to host more repositories and storage centrally.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks, firstly!

I think I know the "Total storage per workspace" is 1GB for the free account, right? I made every current new workspace storage size is less than 1GB.

But how the "Plan type for that workspace" effect the creation for the workspaces? If it means that the "private" workspace number is limited to 30, then how can I create "public" workspace, now? I'm not very clear about which rule blocks me, could you please let me more clear about it? Thanks for your help!

Best wishes,

Mike
