Workspace not listed when linking to organization

I'm trying to link my Bitbucket workspace to my organization.

I do not see my Bitbucket workspace listed when using the "Link Bitbucket" option from the "Atlassian apps" page on: https://admin.atlassian.com/...elided.../atlassian-apps

  1. I am using the free Bitbucket plan.
  2. I am the only user in the organization and the Bitbucket workspace.
  3. I am the organization admin. I see my named listed in the "org-admin" group.
  4. I think am the Bitbucket workspace admin. In the Bitbucket workspace settings, I viewed the access for my name in the user directory and it states "... has admin access to all repositories." Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place to confirm being a workspace admin.

I started the "Link Bitbucket" process. When the site displays "Select a workspace to link", I see the following message under "Workspace":

We have no workspaces to show yet.

After reading several articles, my guess is that my workspace is not eligible for linking.

I am uncertain whether https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/AX-472 applies to my situation.

I have read the following articles and their comments.

The March 15, 2026 migration deadline is approaching, so I'd like the Bitbucket workspace linked to the organization I created instead of a new organization (as mentioned in the calling-on-all-workspace-admins article.

Hey @avocet2426

Welcome to the community.

If your Bitbucket workspace is not showing on the list, so it's not eligible yet. The deadline applies only to eligible workspaces; non-eligible workspaces will remain as they are until further updates.

I hope this clarifies.

Hi @Syahrul

Thank you for the follow-up.

  • The reply from @Karim Buzdar helped me confirm I verified the cases that I am able to verified from my end.
  • Your reply confirmed that the only remaining explanation is that my workspace is not eligible.

Thank you @Karim Buzdar and @Syahrul.

Hi there!

Since you've already verified your Org Admin and Bitbucket permissions, the issue might be that your Bitbucket workspace is already 'technically' linked to a shadow/default organization created during sign-up.

Before the March 15 deadline, try going to your Bitbucket Workspace Settings > App Authorizations and see if there are any old links you can revoke. Also, double-check if your Bitbucket email matches your Atlassian Cloud email exactly. Sometimes, even a small alias difference prevents the workspace from appearing in the dropdown.

Hi @Karim Buzdar

Thank you for the tips. I've tried them and have no resolution.

Below are the results of my attempts.

  1. App Authorizations
    1. I found "App authorizations" under "Account settings" instead of "Workspace settings".
    2. The authorized and denied sections are empty.
    3. I followed the web page notice about checking "Atlassian account - Connected apps".
    4. I checked the connected apps. My Atlassian account has no apps listed for all categories: (1) access to your accounts, (2) 3rd party account access, and (3) your admin created.
  2. Email addresses
    1. I confirmed my email addresses are the same in both user directories.
    2. For the organization admin, I looked in:
      https://admin.atlassian.com/o/.../users
    3. For the Bitbucket workspace, I looked in:
      https://bitbucket.org/.../workspace/settings/user-directory

Here are additional notes and observations:

  • My Bitbucket repositories pre-date the workspace that contains them.
    • The repositories date back to 2015.
    • I don't recall directly/explicitly/manually creating the workspace. I found an email dated April 21, 2020 introducing workspaces.
    • I assume the workspace was created automatically in 2020.
  • I made the workspace private yesterday, before attempting the link-bitbucket process. (Thinking out loud) Maybe the privacy status is related to my issue?
  • In the Directory section of the admin page for my organization ...
    • My user has status "INVITED". I did not receive an email.
    • Under Groups, I click on "org-admins" and then see same user entry, showing status "INVITED".
    • I found an community article hinting the "INVITED" status is unrelated.

Let me know if screenshots will help clarify what I've stated above. I can attach them to a follow-up reply.
