Wiki pages have disappeared

Mars Stepanov July 15, 2021

I made changes to the wiki on 02.07.2021, created one file and changed one file. Then, on 06.07.2021, I made a change to another file and threw a link to this change to another person. Now I look and see that one file is missing, and I made the last changes on 09.06.2021. What could have happened and have you ever encountered such a thing? I'm sorry for my English, I'm translating through a translator

I encountered the same today ....

You can try to git pull/clone the repository to local disk. I found that my repository had been rolled back to 6/18.

I can't perform a rollback because there is no corresponding entry in the history

Hi @Ray Lin,

I see that you have opened a support ticket for this issue.

The engineer working on your support ticket can assist you, but they need to know the URL of the affected wiki (in case it's more than one wiki, they'll need the URL for each one).

When you have a minute, could you please leave a comment in the support ticket you opened, and mention the URL of the affected wiki(s), so our team can help you?

Your support ticket is visible only to you and Atlassian staff, so anything you post there won't be publicly visible.

Kind regards,
Theodora

Hello,

We get the same problem in my company, we are 2 devs and we have a repo only for the wiki, we don't use git on it only my colleague work on the wiki of this repo with the interface of Bitbucket, juste create and edit page from the Bitbucket wiki interface and the last page he create (around the 19-07-21) recently disappear, I got access to the page last week (I remember access it the 22-07-21) and today when I click on the same link I use to I get "Oops, it looks like that file doesn't exist" as he only use the interface of Bitbucket so it's impossible that he force push and he don't make changes on the wiki since he made this page (so the 19-07-21).

Also I remember that Bitbucket interfaces getting issues for me and my colleague last week  (pages takes time, long time to make PR merge from interface, ...)

Kind regards,

Antoine

Hi @Theodora Boudale,

Thanks for your response and for creating the ticket, I answered to it, also I see your answer to Mars Stepanov about the regional support and timezone, I live in France I will mention it in the support ticket as well.

Hi @Mars Stepanov and welcome to the community.

This could have happened if someone made a force push to the wiki repository that resulted in loss of commits.

When someone pushes using the option --force or -f, they force the remote repo to get the version of their local clone. This could result in loss of commits if the user hasn't pulled locally any changes from the remote repo, prior to force pushing.

If you open this wiki on Bitbucket website and select the option 'History' from the top right corner, do you see any commits missing from the history?

If you are not the one who made a force push to the wiki, I would suggest talking with the other users that have access to your repo and check if any of them may have made a force push.

Kind regards,
Theodora

Hi @Mars Stepanov,

I wanted to reach out to you as well and double-check whether anyone from your team has made a force push to your wiki.

If not, then please feel free to let me know, and I can open a support ticket for you as well.

Kind regards,
Theodora

I am the only one who has access to the wiki. I didn't do anything and nothing is displayed in the history.

Hi @Mars Stepanov

Thanks for getting back to me regarding this.

I have opened a support ticket for you as well for this issue. You should have received an email with a link to the support ticket. (If not, please let me know and I can post here the link to the ticket.)

I would like to ask if you could please leave a comment in the support ticket and mention the URL of the wiki with this issue so that the engineer working on your case can help you. The support ticket is visible only to you and Atlassian staff, so anything you post in there won't be publicly visible.

Please note that we offer 9/5 regional support. I couldn't find any address info for your account in our system, so I selected at random a timezone for the support ticket. You should be able to see that while viewing the support ticket. If you are located at a different timezone, please mention it in your reply at the support ticket as well - this way we can adjust the timezone in the ticket and you can get support during your work hours.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,
Theodora
