When YACC is enabled smart commits no longer work

I'm trying to implement YACC but still would like to have Smart Commits working.   If I enable YACC and just enable the default Require Valid JIRA.  When I check in PROG-1234: test comment.  It will push the code, but I will not get a comment in my JIRA ticket.  Once YACC is disabled the very same PROG-1234: test comment will give me a comment in my JIRA ticket.  How can I set YACC and Smart Commits to work together?
