Unable to push into public repository in Bitbucket cloud

eharris_1975 August 6, 2018

I am having issues pushing some commits to my private Bitbucket repository via Source Tree. I am unable to login, I have tried reseting my password to the same value as it was before, using the internal git client ( 2.18.0) and the internal git client (2.17.1) and I am continually getting the login box. However when I pushed some code changes via Webstorm I got the SourceTree Login box which when I entered the correct password it failed but I got a password prompt from Webstorm and entering the password I was able to push my changes.

Hi Graham, welcome to the Community!

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused by your message.

I am having issues pushing some commits to my private Bitbucket repository via Source Tree. I am unable to log in, I have tried resetting my password to the same value as it was before, using the internal git client ( 2.18.0) and the internal git client (2.17.1) and I am continually getting the login box.

I assume this is a login box from Sourcetree to authenticate for Bitbucket, is this correct?

However when I pushed some code changes via Webstorm I got the SourceTree Login box which when I entered the correct password it failed [...]

Here, do you mean you got a Bitbucket Log in box? If it was a Sourcetree log in box, what account was it asking for?

[...] but I got a password prompt from Webstorm and entering the password I was able to push my changes.

How did you get another prompt? What credentials did you use in this step?

Also, please let us know if you've tried logging in to Bitbucket directly using the browser, via https://bitbucket.org/ Can you access your Bitbucket account?

Kind regards,

Ana

Yes

I got a requst to login to Bitbucket using SourceTree, this was asking for my bitbucket account username

[...] but I got a password prompt from Webstorm and entering the password I was able to push my changes.

How did you get another prompt? What credentials did you use in this step?

The SourceTree login dialog failed to log me in, Webstorm presented it's own login box which I used the same credentails that I was using when I was using the SourceTree login.

Finally, I can login to my repository through the web interface.
