I am completely locked out of my Bitbucket Cloud account due to Two-Step Verification (2SV).
What is happening:
My username and password are correct.
After login, I am always redirected to the Two-step verification page.
I no longer have access to my authenticator app.
I do not have any recovery codes.
I previously requested account recovery, but the recovery email link expired.
Now every login attempt redirects back to the same 2SV screen (see screenshot).
What I have already tried:
“Forgot code?” option
Password reset
Different browsers and incognito mode
Clearing cache/cookies
SSH access (works, but web login is blocked)
Workspace access via Git (read-only due to billing limits)
None of these allow me to log in to the Bitbucket web UI.
Current status:
I have received a Bitbucket email saying “Recovery request received – one-time login will be sent after 24 hours” and I am waiting for that email.
Until then, I cannot access my account or manage repositories/workspaces.
My question:
Is there any way to regain access if the recovery link expires again?
Is Atlassian Support the only way to reset 2SV in this situation?
Are there any recommended steps to avoid being permanently locked out in the future?
Any guidance from Atlassian staff or users who faced the same issue would be appreciated.
Hey @propulence
Welcome to the community.
Unfortunately, there's no way around this. You will need to open the reset link we sent to reset your 2SV.
Make sure your computer's date and time are synced correctly, because opening the link at an incorrect date or time could cause it to expire.
Let me know how it goes.
