Unable to Start Bitbucket Services Successfully

kk chew December 10, 2018

Hi,

I was trying to install Bitbucket server 5.16 by locating its application data (or home folder) on a network shared folder. Reference to the product requirements (https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/bitbucket-server-home-directory-776640890.html), the network shared folder needs to be a mapped drive. Having done that, Bitbucket is still unable to start successfully. I had also tried running the services using domain admin credential but to no avail. When Elasticsearch started, AtlassianBitbucket service will stop. Am I missing something?

Regards,

kk

Hello Lay and welcome to the Community!

Running BitBucket within windows is normally a trouble free task. However, when relocating or moving some of the folder structure around you may into issues similar to what you’re experiencing.

A few things to check;

  • Ensure the service account has permissions to the folder(s) the application data is present in.
  • Ensure the mapped drive is mapped for the service account in use.
  • Check the Windows event logs to see if there is any errors present.
  • Check the Bitbucket logs, send us any errors/caused by events within the logs.
  • Ensure no other services are using the ports which Bitbucket is attempting to use.

Please let us know the log outputs from the Bitbucket directory to help us find a cause of you service start then stop.

Hi Stephen,

Pardon me for the late reply. I was away from office for a while. For the following items,

  • Ensure the service account has permissions to the folder(s) the application data is present in.
  • Ensure the mapped drive is mapped for the service account in use.

I've tried using the domain admin account and it should have the most privilege.

Will do the checks on the remaining as suggested.

Thanks
