Requesting Garbase Collection

Hi,

I have cleaned up my repo and reduced it's size from over 500MB to less than 5 MB. It has been a couple of days and it doesn't seem like the garbage collection has run. What else can I do to trigger the garbage collection?

Welcome to the community.

I tried running a Git GC on the repository, but the size remains the same. Since the automatic cleanup didn't reduce the size, you'll likely need to manually strip large files or old history from the repository's history.

Could you please follow the steps in our guide here?

This guide walks through using tools like the BFG Repo-Cleaner or git filter-repo to permanently remove large objects. Let me know if you run into any issues with those steps or if the size still doesn't update after you've force-pushed the changes.
