Hi - I have cleaned up and rewritten the history on a large repo but Bitbucket shows the size has grown larger to 2.7GB. Could a garbage collection be run on the remote side for us? The object count git command is showing it should be around 211MB now.

Hi @Edward Lynch

It's actually expected for a repo to increase in size after performing maintenance operations, as it creates garbage that needs to be cleaned from our side with a server-side garbage collection.

I've executed a gc against your repository and it has reduced it from 2.7GB to 212MB.

Cheers!

Hi @Ben - could you do us a favor and run a gc on our "tools" repo again? The one you did before did work but we've just recently had a situation where we accidentally pushed a branch that had all our original large content (we had a local copy of the repo that we did not reclone after having run BFG Repo Cleaner).

Sorry for the trouble and we'll make sure to get rid of any old copies of the repo.

Thank you!
