Repository Size

Curtis April 21, 2025

I had a repository, which was created initially with all the application data in it along with the code. This was a mistake, but left the repository over 2GB in size, which is a problem with the new size restrictions coming shortly.

I have cleaned up the repo, using BFG modifying the history to remove all the application data, and converted all binary files to Git LFS. The repo size is now very reasonable in size and clones in seconds. But the reported size is still showing 2GB+.

How do I trigger this to update and get corrected? It was over a month ago I did the history cleanup.

Thanks.

Hey @Curtis ,

Thank you for reaching out!

I've manually triggered a Garbage Collection on the repository in your workspace that matched the size you mentioned, and it helped to reduce its size back to ~800KB !

Would you please confirm if everything looks good on your end now ?

Thank you, @Curtis !

That did the trick @Patrik S! So much better when done properly with Git LFS and a proper .gitignore to keep junk out.
