Repositories missing

tinln
May 20, 2026

Yesterday, I attempted to log into my Bitbucket account, and all my repositories and projects are missing entirely. When I try to access the repository page, it just shows "Resource not found". I haven't committed any code to my Bitbucket repositories in recent years, and now that I'm a coder again, I urgently need to recover these repositories. Please help me restore my access to these repositories — any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @tinln, your workspace was deactivated due to Bitbucket cleanup of free unused workspaces.

To reactivate your workspace, please navigate to https://bitbucket.org/account/workspaces/deactivated and reactivate it from there.

Let me know how you go with it.

Hello @tinln

Can you confirm when you were last able to access your repositories successfully?

I checked my local zsh terminal history, the last time I connected to the repositories was at april 2024. The first time I using Bitbucket maybe at 2013, I remember there was a team chat tool HipChat, very pleasant experience :)

@tinln  @netpalantir

I understand how difficult it is to lose code.

I requested assistance for you, and an Atlassian Support Engineer will review the post and respond in this thread within 2 business days.

Until then, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that your data can still be restored.

Same here!!! All workspaces and repos wiped.

I got a single email six months ago, which I missed, where it said that they would be deleting all data from free accounts unless accessed in the next six months. I thought that reading from them via git would be fine, but no, probably you needed to access the web interface, which I did not. I could not write to them either, because I was over quota :(

I missed the deadline by a week.

Is there any way to restore the data?

Yes, I also received an email on November 8, 2025. It said that my empty repositories would be deleted while other repositories would remain unaffected, so I didn't pay much attention to it at that time. Wish all coders' codes stay safe.

Hey @netpalantir, it seems your workspace was also deactivated due to Bitbucket cleanup of free unused workspaces.

To reactivate your workspace, please navigate to https://bitbucket.org/account/workspaces/deactivated and reactivate it from there.
